The AASHTO Standing Committee on Planning (SCOP) is calling for proposed research for NCHRP 8-36, Research for the Standing Committee on Planning.  SCOP will have $600,000 to program under the FY 2009 NCHRP 8-36 project.  In addition, by SCOP for submission or support to the Standing Committee on Research for its FY 2010 program next year.  The

The Federal Transit Administration’s 2008 Broad Agency Announcement for the Public Transportation Participation Pilot Program (PTP) has been extended to midnight on Monday, May 12, 2008. Proposals are being solicited for applied research in the area of public participation as it related to the planning of public transportation projects and programs.

 

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) is soliciting articles for their bimonthly magazine “TR News” on congestion pricing. Articles are due by May 16, 2008 and additional information may be found on TRB’s website.

 

TRB's National Cooperative Freight Research Program (NCFRP) has issued a request for proposals to develop a guidebook that will improve public decisions affecting urban commercial motor vehicle movements for goods delivery. Proposals for the 18 month long project are due May 29, 2008.

 

The Transportation Research Board has issued a request for proposals which recommend strategies for recruiting, developing, and retaining managers for public transit systems.  Proposals are due June 10, 2008.

 

The National Cooperative Freight Research Program has issued a request for project proposals to evaluate the current methods used to generate air emissions information from freight transportation activities and determine their suitability for (a) health and climate risk assessments, (b) prioritization of emission reduction activities such as through State Implementation Plans (SIPs), and (c) public education.  The funds available are $200,000 and the project will run for 12 months.  The closing date is June 16, 2008.

 

On May 1, 2008, EPA proposed to revise the national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) for lead, recommending a lowering of the standard. The public comment period is for 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.
