CIAW Letter to OMB on WIOA Funding

In a letter to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Mick Mulvaney, the Campaign to Invest in America’s Workforce (CIAW) asked the administration to carefully consider any proposed cuts to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs. Noting that “any cuts to WIOA programs would come on top of historic disinvestments in critical workforce and education programs,” and “We simply cannot compete in the global economy if we keep cutting and eliminating effective programs.”

Calls to completely defund WIOA by influential groups like Heritage Action for America and the commitment by the administration to increase defense funding by $54 billion that would be paid for from non-defense discretionary programs like WIOA, have raised substantial concerns among the workforce development community about ongoing funding and have led to calls to protect funding for workforce development programs.
