The National Conference of Regions, held on February 4 to 6, 2007 in Washington, DC drew a national audience consisting of elected city, county and state officials, executive directors of councils of governments and metropolitan planning organizations, diverse professionals, academics and private sector representatives. Participants engaged in dialogues about community issues that are best addressed through regional cooperation. Examples of these issues are transportation, economic development, the environment, and homeland security and regional preparedness.
