TRANSPORTATION

  • Participate in the implementation of SAFETEA-LU
  • Monitor SAFETEA-LU technical corrections legislation
  • Identify regional council and metropolitan planning organization
    priorities for 2009 Surface Transportation Reauthorization
  • Participate in the reauthorization of the Federal Aviation
    Administration
  • Support the SEA-21 authorization proposal (marine and freight
    movement)
  • Monitor Amtrak, Transit and Security legislation

HOMELAND SECURITY

  • Track emergency preparedness legislation especially that which uses regional councils for planning homeland security legislation
  • Community and Economic Development  
  • Reauthorization of the Appalachian Regional Commission
  • Monitor HUD and Rural Development activities in housing
  • Follow the implementation of EDA's regulations
  • Support passage of legislation authorizing new regional commissions
  • Track military base closure activities

ENVIRONMENT

  • Monitor the passage of the House and Senate Water Infrastructure Financing bills to include increase in pass through for planning
  • Follow the passage of the Get Outdoors Act, introduced in the House; and the American Outdoors Act, introduced to the Senate;
  • Track the passage of the 21st Century Water Commission Act 

SERVICE PROGRAMS

  • Monitor Workforce Investment Act and Older Americans Act amendments

APPROPRIATIONS

Monitor appropriations for:

  • Economic Development Administration
  • Housing and Urban Development
  • Homeland Security
  • Appalachian Regional Commission
  • Delta Regional Authority
  • Clean Waste State Revolving Fund
  • Brownfields Redevelopment Financing
  • Employment and Training
  • Rural Development programs
  • Older Americans programs
  • Transportation programs

OTHERS

  • Any new initiatives from the Administration that impact regional councils and metropolitan planning organizations
