NARC Urges Congressional Action on Workforce Bill
NARC sent a letter to Congressional workforce leaders supporting the bipartisan Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (amended HR 803). This bill is a reauthorization of the Workforce Investment Act, which expired in 2003, and provides for a strong and modernized workforce system through investment, preserved local governance and authority, added state and local flexibility, and streamlining of programs and requirements.
Activity in the Senate is expected as early as this week. The Senate will try to advance the bill through a unanimous consent (UC), which means that the bill would not be brought to the floor for debate or amendments. Once it passes through the Senate, the House would then consider. Contact your Congressional member and urge their support of this vital legislation.
