Acting FEMA Director R. David Paulison to Speak in NARC Washington Policy Conference

Washington, D.C. - NARC President Randall Morris said, "This year's conference comes at a crucial point during this Administration and this Congress. Federal budget priorities are putting many important programs at risk and we want to help our nation's communities deal with these funding issues as painlessly as possible. We hope that this coming together of the minds will generate some positive ideas for regions all across the country."

"There are new developments in NARC.s key programs, including the inaugural meeting of the Transportation Executive Committee at this conference. This committee will include transportation experts from across the country. There is a great need for this committee, because as the country's population continues to rapidly increase, so will the need for sound transportation options," Morris said.

This year's conference will be held at the historic Omni Shoreham hotel, and will include trips to the Department of Transportation and Environmental Protection Agency for meetings with key officials.

On Monday's conference luncheon, Acting Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Director, R. David Paulison will be the keynote speaker. The event will run from Sunday, February 5th to Tuesday, February 7th.

The National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) opens its 2006 Washington Policy Conference on Sunday, February 5th. The conference, themed "Regional Approaches: Policies for the Future," is filled with sessions that will bring some of the country's most innovative leaders together.
