Public transit use has been growing in the United States as federal, state and local governments diversify their transportation investments. Societal benefits of transit use are many, including: less fuel consumption, less traffic congestion, personal transportation expenditure savings, and better air quality.
MPOs and COGs are uniquely well-suited to administer transit programs due to their multi-jurisdictional approach. NARC will advocate for better federal transit funding and in assisting in coordinated service delivery. Further, NARC will address our members’ concerns with the Federal Transit Administration during the MAP-21 rulemaking process.
