The Annual Conference and Exhibition is the largest national event focused on promoting effective regional cooperation and solutions through interaction and education. Held annually in June, NARC’s Annual Conference is the premier place to learn how to engage in effective regional collaboration.

Representatives of Councils of Government and Metropolitan Planning Organizations — leadership, professional staff, board members, local elected officials, technical and program staff — come together to share best practices, attend informative sessions on program, legislative and regulatory issues, as well as avail of training and technical services. Speakers include experts from the public and private sector, congressional and state lawmakers, and individuals from universities and non-profit organizations.

The annual Executive Directors Conference is designed by and for executive directors and senior staff of councils of governments and metropolitan planning organizations. The conference, held in a different region of the country each year, brings executives together to discuss topics ranging from human resources and succession planning to what’s new on the technological horizon. The conference also provides opportunities for networking and sharing of information on best practices.

National Conference of Regions

NARC hosts its annual National Conference of Regions in Washington, D.C. for Councils of Government, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, their leaders and board members, professional staff and local elected officials. The conference draws a national audience consisting of elected city, county and state officials, diverse professionals, academics and private sector representatives.

The National Conference of Regions is NARC’s forum to determine key policy issues and a legislative agenda for the year ahead, targeting topics central to our members’ missions and their local elected officials’ focus.
